Listening to the Iraqi dialect

If you are interested in learning the Iraqi dialect, a good show to watch is البغدادية والناس (Baghdadia and the People). This show is uploaded every few days on the Youtube channel AlBaghdadia. In each program, the host goes to a location in Baghdad, and gives people on the street the chance to speak out about current issues in Iraq. Each program is under an hour. This show could be helpful in learning the Iraqi dialect and informal speech, because you can see and hear ordinary Iraqi people speaking.

Online Hans Wehr dictionary

I found a site with an online version of the Hans Wehr 4th Edition dictionary, and it is searchable.

Go to here:

Online Hans Wehr dictionary

And click on Search, and enter a root. For example, if you enter the root كتب , it will take you to page 951 of the Hans Wehr dictionary. The new page may take awhile to show up. Sometimes it's fast, sometimes it's slow.

Al Arabiya TV News Transcripts in Arabic and English

I recently found a resource that could help with learning Arabic, especially with listening skills. The satellite news network Al Arabiya posts translations in English and transcripts in Arabic for it's News Bulletins along with the video of the program. The videos also have a Closed Captioning "CC" button so you can read the Arabic or English script.

Just go their News Bulletin page:

http://english.alarabiya.net/webtv/news-bulletin.html

And click on the latest video or scroll down to "Latest News Bulletins". Click on a bulletin, and another page opens with a video, translation and transcript.

Example:

http://english.alarabiya.net/en/webtv/news-bulletin/2015/07/06/1300GMT.html

To see the Arabic transcript of the program, click on "Transcripts".
